Hiker rescued on Rock Bridge Trail

On Saturday, July 16 at 8:50 p.m., WCSART received a 911 call for a female hiker experiencing a cardiac event on the Rock Bridge Trail. The group had provided a location that proved to be inaccurate, resulting in team members hiking the entirety of the loop to locate them. An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) who is part of our EMS wilderness response unit, assessed the patient. provided care and requested Advanced Life Support (ALS).

We thank the ALS providers from Cross Medical Response for hiking to our location and providing additional care prior to carrying out the patient.

The hiker was then packaged in a stokes basket and carried back to the trailhead where she was transported emergent to Clark Regional Hospital. Thanks to all team members who braved the brutal heat and humidity for a successful rescue.
