Divers, rope techs and medical team train for spring rescues

This week, Wolfe County Search & Rescue Team members refreshed our Basic Life Support and First Aid skills in Campton, completed Dive Team practice at Winchester’s College Park Gym pool, and finished the week with six hours of night‑time rope operations at Land of the Arches Campground last night.

Our medical team worked through patient assessments, splinting, and essential emergency care, including a realistic mock emergency. The medical team also practiced with our new Medtech vacuum mattress, and setting up rope systems at Land of the Arches.

The Dive Team practiced rescue techniques and underwater problem‑solving. Last night, instructors ran multiple rope‑rescue scenarios, challenging team members to build complex systems under low‑light conditions.

Training like this prepares us for real emergencies in the Red River Gorge. Thank you to our instructors and every team member who showed up to ensure we’re ready for any call this spring.
