Divers, rope techs and medical team train for spring rescues

Throughout the winter, Wolfe County Search & Rescue Team members took advantage of a break from rescues to train over several weeks.

Team members refreshed our Basic Life Support and First Aid skills in Campton, completed Dive Team practice at Winchester’s College Park Gym pool, and conducted six hours of night‑time rope operations at Land of the Arches Campground.

Our medical team worked through patient assessments, splinting, and essential emergency care, including a realistic mock emergency. The medical team also practiced with our new Medtech vacuum mattress, and setting up rope systems at Land of the Arches.

The Dive Team practiced rescue techniques and underwater problem‑solving. Last night, instructors ran multiple rope‑rescue scenarios, challenging team members to build complex systems under low‑light conditions.

Thank you to our instructors and every team member who showed up to ensure we’re ready for any call this spring.
