During the annual technical rope training at Chimney Top Overlook on Oct. 26, WCSAR team members, along with friends from Powell County Search & Rescue, set up several intricate high-angle systems and practiced multiple evolutions of simulated rescues in the crevasse.
The operation helped us practice for patient evacuations in perilous vertical environments and helped to ensure that we will conduct complex maneuvers under stress with precision and reliability. Thanks to all the rescuers who practiced from 9 a.m. until mid-afternoon and to the visitors, including a wedding party that came down the trail. All of them patiently worked with us, waiting while evolutions were in progress
