During the 4-H/Progressive Ag Safety Day at Baker Intermediate in Winchester in October, two team members gave a series of 15-minute water safety presentations to 15 groups of students, focusing on the significant impact of advance preparedness, particularly regarding flooding and other weather emergencies.
Team members emphasized the dangers of flood waters, proper applications for life jackets, and discussed other tools and supplies that are useful to add to an emergency kit. Items to have ready include packable meals, battery-operated lighting, communications, battery backup, first aid, navigation and other useful supplies.

Multiple agencies, along with WCSART, gave safety presentations all day to more than 400 Baker students, discussing everything from first aid to bike safety to being safe at home. In addition to our rescues, public outreach programs like this are critical to the mission of the team.
