We have some very exciting news to share!!
We’re excited to announce a vital partnership between Wolfe County Search & Rescue and Morgan County Emergency Medical Service to enhance medical care for rescue operations. This collaboration ensures that every mission is backed by expert medical guidance, improving safety and efficiency in life-saving efforts. Although our team has consisted of Dr’s, Nurses, Paramedics, EMT’s & WFR’s for many years, the lack of medical direction has limited the advanced care that some of our rescues often require. In addition, Morgan County EMS recently became a certified Training and Educational Institution. This resource will help ensure our credentialed medical providers have access to continuing education.
With this partnership, responders will have direct access to advanced medical protocols, ensuring the best possible care for those in distress. Whether it’s a high-angle rescue in the Red River Gorge or a swift water emergency, this alliance strengthens the ability to provide critical medical support in remote or hard to reach areas.
A special thank you to Dr. Bruce Kostelnik for becoming our medical director. Dr. Kostelnik works in the Emergency Department at Clark Regional Medical Center as well as UK Health Care. We look forward to working and learning from Dr. Kostelnik.
We would also like to thank Cross Medical in Wolfe County for helping us get our BLS kit fully stocked.
We will start out providing BLS care and will be moving towards ALS care within the year. As this transition will require the purchase of additional equipment, please be on the lookout in the coming months for some fund-raising activities to help us move in that direction
