Lower Leg Injury Near Copperas Creek

On the evening of April 5th, 2025 Wolfe County Search & Rescue received a 911 call from an Apple dispatch center. A female hiker had suffered a lower leg injury near Copperas Creek Waterfall. The dispatcher center was able to provide a set of coordinates and the subjects medical condition. Team members hiked into the location, forging Copperas Creek and clearing downed trees on multiple occasions.

Once the subject was located, her injuries were treated and she was packaged for transport. As another round of storms were moving in, it was determined that carrying her down the creek, to avoid steeper sections of the trail, was both safer and quicker. Just as team members reached the trail head, this evenings storm was starting to hit.

If you are unfamiliar with the Apple Phone SOS feature, we would encourage you to research how to use it. It was this group’s only option to reach assistance.
